ADMISSION FOR MPhil IN COMMERCE

A. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT FOR MPhil PROGRAM

1. Candidate must have secured at least 55% marks in the aggregate with 5% relaxation for OBC/SC/ST and Persons with Disability in M.Com./ MIB/ MHROD/ MFC/ MBA and other such degrees which are equivalent to the MBA degree of the University of Delhi and other Indian Universities. 
2. Candidates who have appeared for the examination in the above mentioned post graduate program may also apply. However, such candidates will be allowed to appear for the entrance test, only provisionally. Their applications will be considered subject to submission of their final results within a prescribed time stipulated by the Department and fulfillment of the minimum eligibility requirements.
3. Foriegn students shall apply through FSR (Foreign Student Registry). 

Note: The candidates with degrees other than M.Com. / MIB/ MHROD/ MFC/ MBA would be required to furnish an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities/ Delhi University. The onus of producing the relevant equivalence certificate lies on the candidate. 

B. MODES OF ADMISSION

There are two modes of admission in the M.Phil. programme

(I)           Written Entrance test 

(II)         Direct Interview

(I) Written Entrance test

1. The Written entrance test would be compulsory for students, who are otherwise eligible, for admission to the MPhil Program. The entrance test will be conducted once a year.
2. The combined entrance test for M.Phil. and Ph. D. will be a qualifying examination with qualifying marks as 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC(NC)/PWD). The syllabus for the entrance test will consist of 50% questions on research aptitude/methodology and 50% subject-specific questions from the following areas:

• Accounting

• Finance

• International Business

• Marketing

• Organizational Behaviour and Development

There would be 50 MCQ’s and the duration of examination is 2 hours. Each question would carry four marks with negative marking for wrong answer.  The maximum marks would be 200. 

3. Department shall notify the shortlisted candidates to be called for personal interview through its website. 

(II) Direct Interview

The eligible candidates, exempted* from the entrance test, shall be called for an interview to be notified through the Department website.

C. PROCEDURE OF ADMISSION To MPhil PROGRAM

Candidates seeking admission in MPhil through entrance test or UGC NET are required to follow:

1. Fill the required form as and when notified on the University portal.
2. Appear in Written/Online Entrance Examination as notified.
3. Those candidates, who are in service, shall submit No Objection Certificate from their employer.
4. Eligible/Shortlisted candidates shall appear for personal interview before the duly constituted Committee.
5. If shortlisted and called for an interview, submit a brief research proposal as notified (approximately 1000 words) which may be subject to Plagiarism check). Bring four copies at the time of interview. 
6. Selected candidates shall be notified through the Department website for admission.

D. SELECTION CRITERIA

It is mandatory for all shortlisted candidates (through written entrance test or direct mode) to appear for a personal interview.  The calculation of marks for selection of candidates should be done in accordance with the following weightage:

(I) Through Entrance Test

Entrance test marks- 70%; Interview – 30%

(II) Through Direct Interview

1) UG-20 % 
2) PG-30 % 
3) JRF-20 marks
4) Interview- 30% 

Clarifying Notes for Weightage mentioned above

● UG - There will be a differential of minus 5% for other than B.Com. (Hons). UG, PG percentage shall be the weightage of marks obtained by the candidates. 
● In case of a tie in the final marks, date of birth shall be considered, giving preference to older candidate. The onus of providing conversion formula from Grade Points(CGPA) to Percentage lies with candidates.
